In June 2010, the States Parties to the 2003 Convention will meet in a General Assembly to assess the progress made in the last two years in the implementation of its operational directives and to reflect on the many challenges that it faces. One of its crucial aspects is capacity-building in developing countries, and particularly Africa. Massive efforts are underway at UNESCO Headquarters and Field Offices to provide needed training in such areas as legislative revision, and preparation of intangible heritage inventories, nominations and international assistance requests.
